Lady knitting fence

Anne Eunson, a talented knitter from Hamnavoe, is known for her creative and unconventional approach to knitting. She first captured attention by crafting an entire garden fence using fishing twine, a material that added both strength and a distinctive charm to the structure. Her intricate designs not only demonstrated her skill but also highlighted the versatility of knitting as an art form. As you can see, it looks great!

This unique creation recently earned her an invitation to replicate the concept at the Shetland Textile Museum in Gremista. The project aligns perfectly with the museum’s mission to celebrate Shetland's rich cultural and maritime heritage. By using fishing twine, Anne's work pays homage to the fishing traditions deeply embedded in the community, while simultaneously showcasing how traditional crafts can be reimagined in contemporary contexts.

Anne’s knitted fence serves as both a functional installation and a piece of art, blending practicality with creativity. Her work continues to inspire others to think outside the box, demonstrating how everyday materials can be transformed into something extraordinary with the right vision and craftsmanship.
